What is FASTag?
A FASTag is an electronic toll collection system used in our country that allows the vehicle to pass through the toll gates without stopping and paying cash. This prepaid tag is affixed to the windshield of the vehicle and linked to the owner’s account overallnetworth.
Therefore, when the vehicle passes through a toll plaza, the toll fee is automatically deducted from the prepaid account linked to the FASTag. Therefore, it can be easily purchased nowadays from various financial institutions/banks and can be recharged within a blink of an eye from your smartphone.

What are the tips for keeping track of your FASTag balance?
● Use an application
Install an application on your mobile device to check the balance of online fastag, recharge it, view history and do other activities.
● Register for SMS alerts
Keep in mind to register your mobile number with the issuer to receive SMS alerts every time you cross the toll interbiography.
● Auto Recharge
This is one of the best ways to keep track of your balance. The issuer automatically recharges the account whenever it goes below a certain threshold.
● Check Balance
Regularly checking your balance is also important to be aware and know whether you have sufficient balance to pay or not.
How to check balance in FASTag?
As I mentioned above, I use the Bajaj Finserv application, so I’ll share the steps involved.
- Download the ‘Bajaj Finserv: UPI, Pay, Loans’ from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
- Open it and go to the Bills & Recharges section.
- Under the Recharge section, click on FASTag.
- Select your provider.
- Enter your Vehicle Registration Number or Wallet ID
- After entering the required details, you’ll see your current balance and maximum allowable payment.
- Just below it, you need to enter your desired recharge amount.
- Click on Proceed to Pay, and your Fastag will recharge within mhtspace.
- After you register here, you’ll easily see your FASTag balance.
