The Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level or SSC CHSL exam is held by the Staff Selection Commission. This exam helps in the recruitment of candidates for different posts mentioned here:
- Data Entry Operator(DEO).
- Postal Assistants (PA)/ Sorting Assistants (SA).
- Data Entry Operator (Grade A).
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)/ Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC).

SSC CGL Exam Pattern
The Tier 1 of the SSC CGL examination is qualifying in nature and is held in online mode. There are two mediums for this exam- Hindi, and English with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The Tier 1 of SSC CGL comprises 4 sections namely- General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English language. Each section contains 25 questions with 50 marks.
The Tier 2 SSC CGL examination is held in online mode.
The candidates who crack Tier 1 of the SSC CGL exam can sit for the Tier 2 exam of SSC CGL. This exam comprises four papers based on multiple choice questions. Paper 2- English Language and Comprehension has a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Paper 1, Paper 3, and Paper 4 involve a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer. All candidates must sit for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 4 is a written paper for the post of Assistant Accounts Officer or Assistant Audit Officer.
Tier 3 of the SSC CGL examination consists of 1 paper with a total of 100 marks with a time duration of 1 hour.
The Tier 4 of the SSC CGL exam is based on skill. The paper is qualifying in nature with a time duration of 15 minutes.
