Infertility And Endometriosis? Understanding Of How IVF Helps!

Women with Endometriosis or chocolate cysts may find getting pregnant very difficult since they worry about their ability to conceive and give birth. This is because, in certain situations, a buildup of endometrial cells outside the uterus causes an unpleasant inflammation that also causes rings of scar tissue and the formation of chocolate cysts, which are ovarian cysts filled with blood. Contact dr. kevin doody bedford to know the best possible treatment.

Infertility and endometriosis? Understanding of how IVF helps!

Endometrial growths of the tissue prevent a woman’s reproductive organs from operating normally when she has endometriosis. The release of eggs is limited when it involves the ovaries. On the other side, when the fallopian tubes fail, the sperm cannot reach the egg, and the fertilized egg may not be able to go to the uterus. Even though each of these situations may seem difficult, doctors say IVF therapy may be beneficial in providing desired results, especially in cases of severe disorders. According to estimations, one-third of women with endometriosis can get pregnant naturally and without any kind of therapy. However, IVF may be the best option for the remaining women with endometriosis.

How can IVF help in getting pregnant in this situation?

The doctor will definitely start with a thorough assessment of hormones and ovarian reserves along with diagnostic procedures such as laparoscopy & hysteroscopy if needed, which are also of significant help in providing a glimpse into the individual patient’s condition and staging the disease and determining the plan of management accordingly. This is done with the goal of making pregnancy possible for women with endometriosis. Surgery is not suggested in cases with small endometriomas since the possibility of recurrence is high, and there may be ovarian tissue loss, which may reduce the women’s ovarian reserve.

The best option in these situations is IVF. In IVF, there are 5 essential steps:

    • Super-ovulation, or inducing a woman’s reproductive system to produce a large number of healthy eggs,
    • Egg and sperm retrieval and collection constitute the second phase.
    • After that, sperm is used to fertilize the eggs.
    • Embryos are being developed, and the quality and morphology are being evaluated.
    • The embryo is transferred into the woman’s uterus, and once the operation is successful, the embryo is implanted inside, resulting in a much-desired pregnancy. If there are still extra embryos, they can be frozen for future use.
