When I first got the opportunity to work as a Mobile Editor at Techcrunch, I was very excited. It seemed like an ideal opportunity to get back into the mobile space and learn some new programming languages. I quickly became part of the team that helped launch tARdis, a mobile application that connects people and organizations. After a few months of working at the firm, I had my first article published on the website. The project has been a big success and I’m looking forward to helping it continue.
tARdis project
The tARdis project is an augmented reality app that renders a three-dimensional interior of the TARDIS in real time. It is made by former Techcrunch mobile editor Greg Kumparak. His app uses the Vuforia SDK and the Unity 3D engine. He describes it as “a miniature version of the TARDIS ship from Doctor Who.”
Kumparak, who has broken hundreds of technology news stories for TechCrunch, created the app while he was away from the site. He has been featured on TechCrunch’s video series and podcast, and appeared on stage at the Disrupt conference. As a result, the tARdis project received international and national coverage. IO9 and Wired also ran articles about the project.
During his development of the tARdis, Kumparak learned how to use the Vuforia SDK. In addition to creating a realistic model of the TARDIS, he also created an “augmented reality experience” in which the TARDIS’s interior is bigger on the inside.
Mobile editor at Techcrunch
Greg Kumparak is the Mobile Editor for TechCrunch, the popular online news portal. He is a California native and has been a writer and technology blogger for the site since 2008. Before joining TechCrunch, he honed his craft at PandoDaily and PandoMag. In fact, he was one of the early proponents of the “liveblogging” trend, a form of textual updates.
In addition to writing, Kumparak is a regular contributor to the site’s podcast series and video series. He’s also appeared on stage at TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference. Aside from his work at the TechCrunch site, Kumparak lives in the East Bay of California. This is where he’s been experimenting with augmented reality and creating a miniature TARDIS ship from Doctor Who.
As a tech blogger, Kumparak has broken hundreds of tech news stories. For instance, he wrote a review of a augmented reality application called tARdis, which simulates a “bigger on the inside” TARDIS interior.
Personal life
Greg Kumparak is a Mobile Editor at TechCrunch. He writes for the company since 2008. He was born in San Jose, California, and now lives in the East Bay. Although he is a blogger, he has a large following on Twitter. His personal life is shared with his followers on social media.
Earlier, Kumparak was a writer for PandoDaily. When he joined TechCrunch, it was still run by founder Michael Arrington. Since then, Kumparak has worked on hundreds of technology news stories, and he has become an influential social media star. In addition, he is a regular guest on TechCrunch’s podcast series and video series. Occasionally, Kumparak also appears on the tech news network’s radio show.
When not working at TechCrunch, Kumparak has also been working on a project called tARdis, which is a miniature TARDIS. It uses augmented reality to simulate the “bigger on the inside” interior of the famous ship from Doctor Who. The ship is a real-life interactive application, which has been covered by Wired, Engaget, BBC, and IO9.
