Attractions That Aren’t Worth It When Visiting London

    SamanthaBy SamanthaAugust 8, 2022No Comments5 Mins Read

It’s no secret that London is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. With so much to see and do, it can be tough to know what attractions are worth your time (and which ones you should skip).

In this tourism guide, we will discuss some of the attractions that aren’t worth your time when visiting London. We will also provide tips on where to go instead!

Choose the Right Luggage for Your Trip

If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking (it’s the best way to see London), then you’ll want to make sure you have the right luggage. Backpacks are ideal, but if you have a suitcase, consider getting a luggage trolley. You can find them at most major train stations, and they’ll save your back from a lot of strain.

Arrive in London and Get Settled in Your Hotel

Once you’ve arrived in London, the first thing you’ll want to do is check into your hotel and drop off your luggage. There is also plenty of optional luggage storage in London if you want to check into your room later. Just be sure to research them ahead of time so you know where to go when you need to store your belongings.

Get Oriented with a City Tour

After you’ve dropped off your luggage and are settled in your hotel, it’s time to get oriented with the city. The best way to do this is by taking a hop-on hop-off bus tour. This will allow you to see all of the major sights and attractions, and you can hop off at any stop that interests you. Not a fan, then read on. But we’ll jump back to this again later.

Don’t Waste Time at These London Attractions

Now that you have your bearings, it’s time to start exploring! But before you head off to see the sights, there are a few attractions that you should avoid. Here are some of the most popular (and overrated) tourist traps in London:

    • The Tower of London: Yes, it’s a historic landmark. But unless you’re interested in learning about British history, it’s not worth your time. There are much better ways to spend your time in London.
    • Madame Tussauds Wax Museum: The line is always incredibly long, and it’s not even worth it once you’re inside. There are much better wax museums in other cities (like Paris).
    • The London Dungeon: This attraction is more geared toward kids, and it’s not very scary for adults. If you want a good scare, there are better-haunted houses in London that are worth your time (and money).

Save Time in Line at Popular Attractions

London is home to some of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. However, these attractions can also be some of the most crowded. If you don’t want to waste your time waiting in line, there are a few things you can do.

    1. Try to visit during the off-peak season. London is busiest in the summer, so consider planning your trip for spring or fall instead. You’ll still be able to enjoy all the city has to offer without dealing with the crowds.
    2. Buy your tickets in advance. Many of London’s popular attractions offer online ticketing, so you can skip the line altogether. Just make sure to double-check the dates and times before you purchase. You don’t want to end up at a closed attraction!
    3. Consider taking a tour. If you want to avoid the crowds but still want to see some of London’s most popular attractions take a tour. There are plenty of companies that offer small-group or private tours of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and other popular sights. This is a great way to see the city without having to fight your way through the crowds.

    Eat Like a Local

When it comes to food, London has something for everyone. However, if you want to eat like a local, there are a few things you should know. First, don’t be afraid to try new things! England has a reputation for being boring when it comes to food, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Second, make sure to check out some of London’s markets. From fresh produce to handmade goods, you’ll find everything you need at one of the city’s many markets. Finally, if you want to experience the best of London’s food scene, consider booking a food tour. You’ll get to sample dishes from all over the world while learning about the city’s rich culinary history.

    In Summary

London is a great city, but it’s important to know what attractions are worth your time (and which ones you should skip). Plus, make sure you explore all England’s eateries for an English Breakfast, fish and chips, plus a good cup of tea. With our tips in mind, you’re sure to have a fantastic trip.
